Maruti Suzuki has launched its new Victoris SUV in India at a starting price of ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned above the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Victoris marks the brand’s entry into the competitive mid-size SUV segment. To be retailed through Maruti’s Arena dealerships, the Victoris has already made headlines by bagging a 5-star safety rating at both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP test beds.
However, there’s a key catch – the much-talked-about ADAS features will not be available across all trims.
ADAS Features Limited To Top Trims
While the Victoris introduces Level-2 ADAS technology for the first time in Maruti’s lineup, the features have been reserved only for the ZXi and ZXi (O) variants. These top trims come equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and include advanced driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and emergency braking.
Hybrid and Manual Variants Left Out
The hybrid as well as manual gearbox-equipped trims of the Victoris miss out on ADAS. This means buyers opting for fuel efficiency-focused hybrid variants or cost-effective manual models will not get access to these advanced safety aids.
Why This Move Matters
By restricting ADAS to the higher trims, Maruti Suzuki seems to be targeting premium buyers who are willing to pay extra for advanced technology. While this keeps the entry price competitive, it may disappoint customers who expected ADAS features across the lineup—especially given the SUV’s strong safety credentials.
Positioning In The Market
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris will compete directly with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Toyota Hyryder. While rivals offer ADAS in multiple trims, Maruti’s strategy to limit the tech to top-end variants could influence customer choices in the segment.
