Kia Carens Clavis Adds New HTX(O) & 6-Seater Variants — Prices Start at ₹16.28 Lakh

Kia India has refreshed the Carens Clavis MPV lineup with two significant updates: the introduction of a new HTX(O) trim and the expansion of six-seater layouts into mid-spec variants. These changes aim to give buyers more flexibility and value in a competitive segment.

Let’s dive into the details—what’s new, how much they cost, and whether these updates make the Clavis even more compelling.

What’s New?

1. Introduction of HTX(O) Trim

The HTX(O) is a new high-spec variant that sits between the existing HTX and HTX+ trims. It brings premium features that were earlier limited to top variants.
Some of the features in HTX(O) include:

  • Bose 8-speaker sound system (now available more accessibly)
  • Drive mode selector (Eco, Normal, Sport)
  • Smart key with remote engine start
  • Electronic parking brake with auto-hold

HTX(O) is offered in both six- and seven-seater layouts, giving buyers a choice in seating configurations.

2. Six-Seater Configuration Extended to Mid Trims

Earlier, the six-seater (middle-row captain seats) layout was exclusive to high-end HTX+ variants. With this update, Kia has made the 6-seater option available in HTK+ and HTK+(O) trims as well.

This move significantly lowers the entry point for a six-seater Clavis. Hustling for family buyers who want captain chairs without stretching to top variants.

Variant-Wise Prices (Ex-Showroom, India)

Here are the new variants and their ex-showroom prices as announced by Kia:

VariantSeating LayoutPrice (₹, Ex-Showroom)
HTK+ 1.5 TGDi 6-seater (7DCT)6 seats16,28,064
HTK+ 1.5 CRDi 6-seater (6AT)6 seats17,34,037
HTK+(O) 1.5 TGDi 6-seater (7DCT)6 seats17,05,135
HTX(O) 1.5 TGDi 7-seater (7DCT)7 seats19,26,717
HTX(O) 1.5 TGDi 6-seater (7DCT)6 seats19,26,717

Note that both the 6-seater and 7-seater versions of HTX(O) are priced identically.

The HTK+ 6-seater variant priced at ₹16.28 lakh is now the most affordable six-seater Clavis.

Why These Updates Matter

  • Better value positioning: By offering six-seater layouts in mid-spec trims, Kia now allows buyers to access captain-seat comfort without having to jump to premium trims.
  • More differentiation: The HTX(O) gives buyers a rich mid-level variant that adds premium touches (Bose, drive modes) without going all the way to HTX+.
  • Flexibility: Buyers now have more choices — 6 or 7 seats — across more trims, making the Clavis more adaptable to family needs.
  • Market competitiveness: These changes help Kia strengthen the Clavis against rivals by expanding its appeal and value proposition.

What Remains Unchanged

  • Powertrain options: The new variants continue to use Kia’s 1.5L TGDi turbo-petrol engine (with 7DCT) and 1.5L CRDi diesel (with AT) in the six-seater options.
  • Core features and safety equipment like Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, 360° camera, dual 12.25-inch displays, panoramic sunroof, etc. have already been standard in Clavis variants and carried forward.

Final Take

Kia’s updates to the Carens Clavis variant lineup are smart and timely. With the addition of HTX(O) trim and affordable six-seater options in mid-specs, the brand widens the appeal of the Clavis MPV. These updates give buyers more choice, better value, and the ability to pick a layout that suits their family needs — all while still staying within the premium MPV space.
