Smriti Mandhana Confirms Wedding With Palash Muchhal Called Off, Issues Public Statement After Weeks of Speculation

Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has officially confirmed that her wedding with music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal has been called off, putting an end to weeks of rumours and unverified social-media chatter surrounding her personal life.

Mandhana released a statement through an Instagram story on Sunday, marking her first public response since the speculation erupted online.

“The wedding is called off,” Mandhana confirms

Addressing ongoing rumours, Mandhana wrote:

“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.”

She urged fans, media houses and content creators to stop amplifying unverified claims and to respect the privacy of both families.

“I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace.”

Mandhana: “My focus remains on representing India”

Despite the emotional turbulence, Mandhana reiterated her dedication to cricket and her long-term goals.

“I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be.”

She ended her message by thanking supporters and stating:

“Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward.”

Wedding Called Off After Medical Emergencies on the Same Day

The wedding was originally planned for 23 November 2025 in Sangli, Maharashtra.
However, on the morning of the ceremony, Mandhana’s father Srinivas Mandhana suffered severe chest pain and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors detected elevated cardiac enzymes, and he was placed under medical observation.

Soon after, Palash Muchhal also required emergency medical attention and was hospitalised. Given the sudden health crises on both sides, the families took the decision to postpone the wedding indefinitely.

Multiple media outlets reported the developments in the days that followed, but the absence of an official statement from Mandhana led to widespread speculation online—until her clarification today.

A Request for Responsible Reporting

Mandhana’s message highlights the increasing pressure high-profile athletes face amid social-media scrutiny. Her request for privacy serves as an important reminder for fans and media platforms to avoid spreading unverified information during sensitive family situations.
